Included with your replacement kit are step-by-step installation instructions, with photos, that walk you through every step, so it makes it easy to service your own free hub!

The HUBDOCTOR^® new inner bushings are manufactured out of state of the art plastic and are tested and proven to last up to 5 times longer than the original bushing. Now with 10% longer length and 50% thicker flange, fits perfectly and is twice as dense as the competition and much stiffer. (PV14000 rated). Modulus of elasticity now 392k psi. Compared to plain clear Nylon, this material is much stronger; lower friction coefficient or friction .1%; more heat and wear resistant, and will not absorb water. Nylon can absorb up to 13% compared to 0.3% for our bearing. And our bearing is made completely round on the flange so it fits just like the original part!

*For best life refresh the oil every 40 hours of use. Condition of the aluminum hub surface affects bushing life. Worn pawls can shed metal filings and wear both the hub surface and the bushing.

Does your rear hub make a loud howl while coasting? Is the rear hub binding and turning in to a fixed gear? Grab the cassette and check side to side play. If it's more than two sprocket thicknesses and your freehub howls when coasting then your hub bushing is worn out! No Worries! Note: To determine if you have the 2012 and earlier freehub remove the cassette. For the 2012 and earlier model, the outer freehub bearing retainer cap will be black. The Mavic^® Crossmax freehub standard sized .000 bushing is for hubs with little or no measurable wear between the inner and outer axle surfaces. The Mavic^® Crossmax freehub bushing is .003 oversized is for hubs with more advanced wear. Not sure? I suggest purchasing our kit that contains both the standard and oversized bushing to see which bushing fits best. Start with installing the standard bushing first and go to the .003 in needed.

How to determine what size replacement bushing to purchase:

To see which bushing size to purchase, standard .000 or .003 oversized, take the freehub off the rear wheel and measure the hub surface next to the rubber seal which is all the way inside the hub. A digital caliper or 2" micrometer works best. If your hub measures .984-.983" order the standard size. If your hub measures, 982-.979 the .003 oversized bushing fits best.

What if I’m unsure of the measurement?

I suggest purchasing our kit that contains both the standard and oversized bushing to see which bushing fits best. Start with installing the standard bushing first and go to the .003 in needed.

What if my hub has extreme wear?

Check my listing for the new HD^® Pro kit. (The hub picture on the right in the listing shows a case of extreme wear.) If your hub has extreme wear, in order to save the hub, and avoid the cost of a new one, its best to purchase the HD^® Pro.
